PRL is pleased to announce a new Molecular Pathology Department headed by Dr. Pradip Manna, and a new state-of-the-art facility equipped with modern molecular diagnostics instruments. As the genetic revolution permeates every aspect of medical practice, PRL is now in the forefront of integrating this revolution, particularly, in the way it can deliver new diagnostic information that will optimize patient care.
The rate of disease gene discovery is increasing exponentially and rapidly improving our ability to diagnose and allowing elucidation of the pathologic mechanisms underlying the diseases. This leads directly to better personalized therapies.
Molecular methods are now facilitating the identification and characterization of linkage analysis of genetic disease inheritance, genetic variability for diagnosing hematological malignancies, bone marrow engraftment analysis, specific genetic changes for cancer diagnosis, design tumor-specific therapies, therapeutic monitoring for residual disease and quantification of pathogen burden that is more sensitive, specific, rapid, and reliable than current conventional culture methods.
Dr. Manna brings excellent experience in integrating molecular diagnostics in medical practices as well as developing innovative molecular tests.
