CYTOLOGY
The Cytology Department at PRL is a full service cytology laboratory providing routine screening and diagnostic cytopathology services, including gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens (pulmonary and bronchoalveolar lavage, gastrointestinal, body cavity fluid, cerebrospinal fluid, urologic, fine needle aspiration, Tzanck smears, nipple secretions, anal and ophthalmologic).
Special studies can also be performed on non-gynecologic specimens including, flow cytometry, UroVysion™ FISH, bladder tumor associated antigen, and immunocytochemical studies.
The Cytology Department extends leading technology by offering Cytyc Imager Dual-Review computer-guided screening and ThinPrep® Pap Test™.
In addition to trained and certified personnel with access to the latest in technology PRL cytology offers additional patient care benefits. These include patient results correlation between their pap smear and tissue results. Quality control monitoring and reporting on specimen validity.
